Rubell Museum Miami

The Rubell Museum is located Directly west of Wynwood, right on the perimeter of Wynwood.  The Rubell is ranked 5/5, or fifth place on my list of top 5 museums. And the reason it is ranked near last. Is because I have never been there(FACEPALM).

And Im super excited to go on my next visit, The Rubell museum has a 30 year history in Miami, and they just moved into a large facility in the Wynwood Art District area.  

Subject matter 

The Rubell family has a deep history of supporting emergent artists at pivotal point(Jean-Michel Basquiat, Cecily Brown, Keith Haring, Rashid Johnson, Hayv Kahraman, Jeff Koons, William Kentridge, Yoshitomo Nara, Cindy Sherman, and Mickalene Thomas).   

The Rubells passion for art began with financing their first piece in the collection in 1965.  Currenlty their collection is around 7000 pieces from 1000 different artists.   It appears the Rubell family collection and museum is a mature collection, and Im most excited to visit on my next trip to miami!!
