Its interesting, unfortunate and complex the issue of race dynamics in the us.  Black live matter movement being the contemporary group at the forefront.  And I think it important that people have context of the history of this movement.  Martin luther king led an interesting life, and there were many things that one can criticize him for.  But no one can question his effectiveness in the cause of black rights.
And in 1963 King, a Georgia native ventured to Alabama to support black rights and was arrested.  And instead of being supported, many Alabama  religious leaders criticized Kings actions. Religious leaders, those who claim moral superiority, were condemning King for his involvement.  Kings response was known as the "letter from Birmingham jail."
To me, it begs a questions.  Groups such as black lives matter.  Are they helping the situation? Or are they the modern day equivalent of the religious leaders, dealing only in political power.  Working for their own agenda, and ignoring the real, and correct solutions.  I dont know the answer, but I do know that Martin Luther King was a great man.  We would all be wise to understand his tactics and application of leverage. And we should scrutinize the actions and strategy of political organizations.Â
